There are over 100 cannabinoids identified in cannabis. The primary ones we hear about are Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC/psychoactive) and Cannabidiol (CBD/non-psychoactive). Our office emphasizes the benefits of using CBDs, cannabinoids, and terpenes.
The female plant of Indica or Sativa cannabis species have high levels of THC in the flowers, and some are bred to add even higher levels, such as 20-30%, but are low in CBD. There are also several Indica and Sativa plants that have been genetically created to have higher CBD and less than 1% THC. These plants are high in cannabinoids, terpenes, and CBD. An early example of such a plant is Charlotte’s Web. The THC content was extremely low and it was used in treating children with seizures.
There is a lot of confusion with CBD terminology. It may help you to know that the levels of THC and CBD are inversely proportional to each other. Plants high in THC are generally low in CBD. The male sativa plant, also known as the hemp plant may have less than 1% THC; however, it is high in CBD. If there is less than 0.3% THC, the government is allowing sales as hemp products such as Hemp Oil. The amount of cannabinoids and terpenes is less in the make hemp plant than the female plant.
Why is a genetically produced female plant with low THC better than the hemp plant? Because this plant has more medicinal value, because it is high in all of the cannabinoids, terpenes, and CBD. There are many more plants that have been genetically bred since the origin of Charlotte’s Web.
There are several CBD and Hemp products available on the market and it’s good to know that while Cannabidiol(CBD) is obviously in CBD products, it is also in Hemp products at high concentrations. Organacure® has developed an organic and genetically exclusive plant that is high in CBD, and all the other other cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids that work together to promote healing and reduce pain. See Patient Education tab for more details under Cannabinoids and Terpenes.

Testimonials: I am not a big fan of testimonials. However I can share my own experience. I have had 6 spine surgeries and struggle with intermittent back pain. I have tried several CBD products and found that very few significantly reduce my pain. However, these products mentioned completely eliminate my pain, especially the cream. Patients with arthritis rub the cream over their joints and state that their pain is reduced/eliminated. I have several patients with reflex sympathetic dystrophy (RSD) or complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) who simply apply the cream on the areas of their pain and experience immediate pain relief. Patients with sports injuries also tell me the CBD cream reduces or almost completely eliminates their pain.
Disclaimer: In medicine, we frequently encounter many patients who do well on a specific medication while another patient, on the same medication, same dosage, does poorly. It just happens, usually as a result of genetics. What works for some doesn’t necessarily work for all. I cannot guarantee every patient will get the same results. It could mean either the medicine is not working for you or you may need to adjust your dosage. However, as a physician, I can state that none of these products will do you any harm.
